OMG. The staff this morning made my whole day, if not year. I was referred to the Joe Dimaggio next door for my son's fractured wrist and they refused to see us because they don't take walk-ins. His wrist was fractured 3 days ago, but I only got the confirmation yesterday and was referred to them. Since he didn't have a splint on, his wrist is swollen, and he is a lot of pain, I figured I would go there since I couldn't get them on the phone and they never did call me to book the appointment. As we walked into the building, Joe Damiggio's Ortho office off Coral Ridge called me to make the appointment. I told her we were right outside. We were in front of the door and even pushed the button to get in, but they refused to even open the door, but instead suggested I take him to an Urgent Care. I immediately went next door to Pediatric Associates and explained to them what happened and immediately Gaby and Cristina reassured us that they would everything they could to help. Gaby jumped into action and spoke with Dr Maria Harnisth who agreed to see my son and put a splint on his hand, she also put a sling on him to hold his hand up. Gaby then made several calls to try to get us an earlier appointment to see another Pediatric Ortho and was able to get us one for first thing Monday morning. Their actions and compassion brought tears to my eyes and I am forever grateful to them. My son and I felt so defeated for my son after leaving Joe Dimaggio, but felt seen, heard and cared for when we left Pediatric Associates.
